New to the forum - first time post.

I often download sermons (mp3 files) from the website of a local church. I'd like to capture these sermons in text for future reference for study. Does software exist that will convert mp3 files into text - in effect digital dictation software? It does seem sort of far-fetched.

Or, is my only option to play the audio file and use a computer microphone with voice recognition software to convert to text. I've never used voice recognition software - but I understand that you have to "train" it to become familiar with the voice - which may be a challeng in this situation. If that's the case, are there any product recommendations?

Any suggestions or direction greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

Digital dictation and speech recognition software does exist. I don't know if you can import an MP3 file into it, but that seems like a natural thing that a lot of people would want to do, so I would imagine that the better software out there has that feature.

Check out Dragon Naturally Speaking by Nuance. It's $163.99 on Amazon, and I think it will accomplish what you are after. There might even be a lighter application that would do the same thing.

decoding mp3 to wav, if needed, is very simple
