I've already laid down some decent tracks on my Alesis LX20 and I want to transfer them to the computer domain to:
1. edit
2. mix
3. master
4. burn cd
What software/hardware do I need to accomplish. Is this a waste of time? Is there an easier more efficient route?

there is an adat card I think it's called "ADAT PCR" or something like that. I paid $318 for it. I wanted to use it with my Fostex D160 (adat optical in/outs), but as fate should have it, the day I bought it, a friend offered up his MOTU 2408 system for $500, couldn't pass it up. The MOTU is great, it has 3 digital adat lightpipe in/outs (for 24 tracks of adat transfer to your pc) with adat sync! The downside is it's $1000, in MY OPINION, it's well worth it.

oh, sorry, covered only hardware for you. For software, I use Steinberg Nuendo, although a little pricey (around $1200), I haven't found one better for my needs yet. At first I used Sonic Foundry Vegas Pro ver.1, it's interface is a little "cartoonish" looking and only supports 16 bit, but it's a great beginners (into the pc based daw world, anyway)software. It worked great right out of the box. Theres a new version of Vegas called Vegas Audio, I dont know the price, but when I bought my Vegas Pro, it was around $350, if I remember. Alot of people seem to have sucess with Cakewalk, which I personally don't care for, but it runs around $300 I believe. Good luck.
