Here are two songs I've worked on the last month or so. Tell me what you think. Negative comments are welcome, but there is no reason to be mean. If you don't like something, tell me why and give a suggestion on how to fix it. I am here to learn.

Just as a side note, I couldn't play the songs just from clicking on the link. You may have to right click and then choose Save Target As.

Any critque would be welcome. I know the midi programming isn't the best. I don't have the best equipment or the best software. Also, I didn't add any effects whatsoever. No reverb, compression, EQ, etc... The instruments are composed of mostly free soundfonts that I have found online, so I know those don't sound the best. So, long story short ... I guess I'm most interested in the orchestration and compostition. Just imagine what it might sound like with better software. Of course, if you have any ideas to make the over sound sound better, let me know. I'm kinda new to all of this.

Unfinished as it needs to be longer? Unfinished as something is left unresolved?
I'm not sure what to do with either one of these songs as far as an ending goes.
My compositional style so far is come up with a melody or a hook of some sort and then create variations on that melody.
melody is ok
Is there something in your opinion that I can do to spice up my melodies?

Do you have a particular synth in mind? (I don't have the best speakers, so sound issues are going to be tricky)
Most of the sounds are free (downloaded) single layer soundfonts, so the original quality isn't going to get much better. But, I think I do have the richman plug-in. I'll play with it some more.
Thanks for the tips.
Mark :)
