Hi. I just installed Cubase Studio 4 on my computer. I have a soundcard and a mic, so I'm basically ready to go. The thing is, I have no idea how to use the program (or any recording software for that matter). What is a good way to learn about how to use Cubase Studio 4? Thanks for helping!

The "getting started" manual provided with your software is the best place to start.

Read everything you can get you hands on. Staring at all the buttons won't help and nearly everything about these programs can NOT be learned by a few posts in a bbs.

Amazon.com and your local bookstore have plenty of audio production books. If you seriously want to record and have not already started a reference library, start NOW!

Drive the car around the block a time or two, and see if you can crash into any trees along the way...

Edit: Once I posted that, it looks a bit rude, don't it? lolol Sorry 'bout that... What I mean to do is, try the program out, experiment with it, and don't be afraid to crash it... lolol

There are some good step-by-step DVD's available. Visual aids are always a bonus.

Yeah, I kinda lost the reference manual somehow. That was probably a bad thing to do...

Steinberg's web site should have a PDF (Adobe Acrobat) file for you to download. That's how I got started. Be prepared to print out more than a 100 pages of information.

All the manuals are also available as PDFs on the DVD. Check out the Cubase SX3 Power book on Amazon. 90% of it applies to Cubase 4 Studio.
