Hi,
Here is my problem.
I am trying to capture some home movies from my VCR into my PC and my 2408 is not being recognized in the capture source settings.

I am running Pinnacle Studio 8 software and under Capture Source there is no device listed in the drop-down list.

I am using the DC10+ to capture the video and wanted to use the analog ins on the 2408 to capture the audio.

This used to work at one point quite some time back.

I reinstalled the drivers for the 2408 and used the ones from the install disk (which are older, but was what was installed when this function last worked).
I also reinstalled the Studio 8 software.

I did get an message when first starting Studio 8 that no video/audio devices were found that are DirectX compatible. According to the description of the 2408 it is DirectX compatible.

Any help would be helpful, as I have spent hours and hours trying to get this to work.

Thanks,
Mike

I believe that the term "capture device" means some form of a video capable device, like a camera so the 2408 would not show up as a video capture device.

In your software, there should be some capability to "add audio" and either in your software or in the Windows control panel you should be able to designate the MOTU unit as your audio interface. Peahaps you need some audio recording program to record the audio and then you would have to import the audio into your video software from your hard drive.

I will admit to just putting my feet in the computer video waters, and finding it more than a little confusing.

You may not have the 2408 selected as the "default" device for Windows, if that's what you're using. Pinnacle Studio can be a bear, can't it?... Be sure you're in the Sound panel (or whatever it's called... Audio?...) of Studio when trying to find your card also...

Actually there is an Audio drop-down list in the capture settings. This can be the same device as the video capture, but in my case the DC10 only captures analog video. It just baffles me that I used to be able to do this.
There is the option of me capturing the audio separately in Cubase SX and importing it into Studio 8, but I wanted to avoid the hassle of making sure everything is in sync. It just baffles me that it used to work. Oh well, thanks for your reply.

Hi,
I did try setting it as my default before when I was troubleshooting it. I had no luck with this.
I still think it has to do with the 2408 not being recognized as a DirectX compatible device. Thanks for the suggestion though.
