If I'm running an analog signal into my VS-1680, (for the sake of using good D/A converters), chanelling it directly out into my midiman Delta DiO 2496 sound card, and recording it in Cool Edit Pro at 32 bit (float) and 96kHz, am I really getting such high quality signal? I know the 1680 can only be set at 44.1 or 48 kHz - does that mean that the D/A converters are limiting the signal to go out at a maximum of 48kHz, thus making anything greater after that completely pointless?
