Wondering if anyone else is having this problem. After a period of inactivity, does your m-audio Firewire Solo (audio interface) stop providing output sound (turn up the volume, nothing...) - forcing you to reboot? I'm wondering if it has something to do with the bus power that my new PC (which is relatively lower than some PCs) is able to juice the device. Also, doesn't the sound provided through the headphone jack sound kinda weak and thin (very little bass?).
Any feedback much appreciated!

I've read some comments claiming better performance with an external power supply but I wasn't interested enough to remember what problems was thus solved. Some firewire chipsets work better than others with audio but, again I dont' know, if the differences are related to your main complaint.
Does you computer slow down to some power saving state at times? It's not supposed to be that way but some devices may not recovering properly afterwards. I don't know about WinXP but with Win98 (and win95) one could go into Device Manager and click on the Refresh button to re-establish contact with some kinds of external connections.

Adrian, I have the same problem! it has been driving me bat****. I saw yesterday on the M-audio knowledge base that some 3394 chipsets need extra power from the cable. Problem is, my dc adaptor is english or chinese or something and i can;t find the australian adaptor so i used a 500ma one i had which did not work, it requires 1000ma. I willl tell you how i went after i get the plug right.
It works beatifully when it works though, headphone is not an issue for me.
I have MANY problems with my pc in general though that is killing me with all the tweaking, setting, searching for answers, etc. My pc is looking more and more like a frisbee every day!!!

I figured out (by lots of trial and error) that when my PC (newish HP workstation) went into hibernation, that was when it crapped out. After turning off hibernation mode, it has been much better.
I have two solos linked together, and use two audio buddy pre-amps with them so I can record four simultaneous microphone tracks into SONAR home studio 4. I was having lots of problems with the ASIO drivers until I loaded the updated drivers from M-Audio. Things seem to be working better.
Cheers,
Chris
