Hi
I have Audigy 4 sound card. I'm using Samplitude 2496 V5.32.
In Samplitude i simply cannot play back. I get a pop up saying...

"The specified format is not supported or cannot be translated. Use the capabilities function to determine the supported formats".

I have read and tried many things and still no playback. I've even tried hitting 'Y' and looking at systems but it is not what everone elses pop up box looks like and not the same information.

Appreciate any suggestions.
I may be dumb, but dam I'm slow:-)
Phil

This message appears when the soundcard or its driver does not work normally. Possible reasons are: driver is broken, driver has not been updated when the OS was updated, or problem of the driver itself. Look in the 'device manager' to see if there are any issues(question marks, exclamation points or red X's)
Uninstall the card and all of it's related apps. Then try reinstalling the cards drivers only, you may want to see if there are updated drivers for the card first and use those.

*Note: Before taking that route you may want to open up the 'sounds and audio devices' menu in the 'control panel'. Select the 'hardware tab' and highlight your soundcard then select 'properties'. Then select the 'driver tab' and choose 'update driver'. When it asks you if you want the program to check the internet select 'No, not this time'. Then select the choice that says 'Install from a list or specific location[advanced].' In the menu that opens select 'Don't search, I will choose the driver to install'. Here look to see if Windows sees more than one driver option. If it does, choose the correct one for your card or if your not sure write down the driver options and post them here for more help.
