My band uses a Roland VS-840 to record our sessions. We are interested in transfering the songs onto my computer for further editing using Cool Edit. How can I go about doing this. Can I load the zip disk onto my computer even though it is formatted for the Roland? Or do I need a good soundcard with a digital input. My main concern is transfering digitally so there is no loss of quality. Thanks for any help you can give.

first u need a good sound card coz it determines the sound quality of the final product, second u need a digital optical i/o for your sound card with SPDIF support, route your vs SPDIF out to your computer in record it (seperately or a stereo track) to a audio editor, then u could use the optical i/o to save it as DAT or MD or even CD

2 at a time via spdif via MTC (midi time code).Set your sequencer or audio program as slave so you can transfer 2 at a time in sync through an audio card that has spdif. The newest version of the 840ex has the advantage of being able to transfer your zip into a pc zip.Hopefully with a software update....
