Hello:
I am going to record a live gig using mics I borrowed from a friend. The cables are XLR from the mic to 1/4" (Hi Z?) and I'm wondering if I put these into the mic inputs (Channels 1 & 2) of the Firebox will I be going through the mic preamps or will it be treated as a line level input?
Any thoughts?

Hi,
The 1/4" inputs on the Firebox's inputs 1/2 are actually for instrument level sources. However, these should work fine for mics that have a HiZ output.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. I figured the inputs would work but what I'm wondering is if I will be going through the Firebox's mic preamps using line inputs? If not, would it be better to run the Hi Z mics through an external preamp first before going into the Firebox?
Do the line inputs on channels 1 and 2 have preamps? (Sorry if these are stupid questions but I only have one chance to capture the performance and litle time for sound check - I want to get it right the first time.)

There is about 20dB of preamp gain available on the 1/4" inputs of the front panel. This may or not be enough gain depending on the amount output of your mics. You might be best off to bring an extra stereo preamp just in case you need more gain.
Good luck to you,

Thanks,
I was planning to have an extra preamp just in case. I just wasn't sure of the routing with the Neutrik Combo Jacks.
Thanks again for your prompt and helpful responses.
