Hey guys,

I just got my Firewire 410 last night and ive got it all hooked up to Protools M powered and ive been doing some tracking with guitar and bass which ive been able to monitor through the headphone jacks but I havnt been able to get the optical out into my stereo working.

Ive got it all plugged in the correct way and there is a red light coming thru the cable but there is no audio coming thru and the s/pdif out light is inactive...

Is this something that should be working or can be changed? or am i unaware of some sort of restriction that prevents what im trying to do?

Cheers guys

Have you got audio routed thru the S/PDIF on the 410? Check your mixer software. Is it necessary to set one of the devices to "Master" and the other to "Slave" with the 410 & your receiver? Is it 44.1 or 48kHz?

Hey thanks for your reply!

It appears its actually a pro tools issue im dealing with as i can get audio thru spdif from windows.

The sample rate as defined by Pro tools is at 44.1khz

Incase anyone here can help with the Pro tools side of things, here are the screen caps from both the firewire control panel and the protools I/O window.

As you can see i've set all the options to output to s/pdif.

But in the control panel you can see that its registering audio coming into the firewire but nothing is going out. If i plug in the headphones they work, but im not even getting any readings through my control panel so it makes it a bit harder to work out what exactly is going on...

Any help is much appreciated!!

well it appeared that i just couldnt work it out in pro tools. I tried some other apps and i can just select the s/pdif driver and bingo its all good.

So its just application specific and pro tools isnt as straight forward as other apps :P

Everything looks right in your Pro Tools setup. Have you tried again? I've had some similar weird issues and it "fixed" itself after a restart.
