Hey Guys ...

Just wanted to post my problem and solution as when I was looking for help online I didn't find much. I'm running P Centrino 1.8 system with 2 gig ram and was experiencing popping/dropouts on my Firepod once installed. I ran the Windows Hotfix for Firewire with no help ... next up was an email to custom assitance and Ben Mullens suggested I try a Cardbus/PCMCIA FW adapter.

This is an important note for anyone in the same position ... the first card I bought was a Lacie combo 400 and 800 (since I have a D2 external drive) .. and the Firepod wouldn't sink. Apparently the Firepod has problems with any combo cards (including USB). The other thing that it must have is a Texas Instruments Chipset on the card.

My glorious solution was a Belkin FW PCMCIA card (with TI chipset!) ... I'm sorted and its running gloriously ...

Thanks again to Ben at tech support ... their emails were surprisingly prompt (pretty sad these days that you expect customer service emails to take a week) ...

Shaun
