Firewire 410 I/O problem

HI , I have just purchased a Firewire 410 and am having sound output issues .
I have a g4 powerbook . I am using 'Peak' as a sampling programme .I have my minidisc plugged into input channles of the 410 .I have my amp plugged into the analogue output channel and the firewire 410 plugged into the laptop .
Recording in from minidisc into ' Peak ' is fine but I have no sound coming from the output channel for playback, and yet if I play a song through itunes i have sound so the problem seems to be the firewire recognizing 'peak' rather than it being set up wrong . Any ideas how to resolve this ?

I'm puzzled about how you have audio going in to peak, but not coming out of it. Be sure the output in Peak is set to the FW 410. IF you have input, that indicates it is working.

You describe the output as being connected to an Amp. Are there speakers connected to this Amp? A guitar combo amp? Please clarify.

Where do you here the audio from itunes? You computer speakers? The speakers connected to the amp?

Do you see the VU meters in the FW control panel? DO they show any audio playing while peak is playing back sound?
