:) hi everybody
i have a problem to use my quattro usb audio interface card.
install driver (2002 web exe ) doesn't function approperly with my windows XP home version (Service Pack 2 version 2002).
infact, when quattro is running, in windows control panel ,precisely sound & audio , volume control is invailable so i can't change volume.Besides, audio or midi sound going out by my audio system is very low . I want to know is it a problem of compatibility or there is an anomaly in my sound card .
thank you.

Very few, perhaps not any, professional or semi-pro soundcards use, or are effected by, the Windows Mixer. They come with their own software mixer. However, there is little or no ability to control volume through software on most USB soundcards. The hardware is all external to the computer so the data is simply sent to the soundcard and you can do nothing about it on or within the computer.
It is also the case that very few soundcards have any amplification ability. When they have software controls, those can only reduce bit depth and, as a consequence, reduce volume level. If yours is like most USB cards, there is no software level control. A low volume is due to the source data you feed to the soundcard, some adjustment on the external box, or a hardware fault.
It is also the case that many devices of this sort can be switched between +4dBu and -10dBV levels. If there is such a switch, try it is the other position. +4dBu should produce a higher level signal.

v 2.0.0.2 is the latest (from Dec 2003), no other updates - software or firmware - appear to be applicable to your device... Do you have the latest updates from Microsoft for WinXP?
As AndyH says, the level settings (Input & Output) with your buttons on the front of the Quattro, and the monitoring method, all come into play in your situation. Did you install the device as per the M-Audio instructions? Do you have a M-Audio control panel available from your systray? You have to have the device properly installed and initialized by Windows, in order for the driver to properly install. Also, are you using the ASIO or MME "driver"?
Are you using the same USB port you originally installed the device in? Do you "hot-swap" the device (not so good to do, they've discovered...)? Between the "hot-swapping" and use of different USB ports from the original installation, Windows may have installed your device multiple times, and run out of room in the registry for it (I doubt that is the issue here)... RME has a bit on it here (http://www.rme-audio.com/english/faq/10entrye.htm).
The M-Audio web site is also a wonderful fount of knowledge, and has quite a few FAQs on the Quattro USB (http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.faqs&P=6%3A81703e2203e2556c9d650c1b3d3a6e79&O=15&S=&x=36&y=9).
