I just got a Firewire Audiophile, running on Windows 2000 SP4.

After the drivers have been installed, the M-Audio FW Audiophile
shows up, correctly installed in the
Device Manager > Sounds, video and game controllers >
M-Audio FW Audiophile - "The device is working properly".

However, when I try to open the FW Control Panel Launcher it comes
up with the message "No M-AUdio FireWire device was found connected
to this PC. [...]".

The drivers have been uninstalled/reinstalled 4 times by now, still - no effect.

Any help would be appreciated!

I've got the same thing with my Firewire 410!

Have repeatedly re-booted, turned off, reconnected, booted up, re-installed etc. Sometimes it comes back, but usually for a few days then it conks out again.

Would very much like a solution as I have clients waiting...

I have continuing problems with my FireWire 410 switching off abruptly and randomly for no apparent reason, with the same "No M-AUdio FireWire device was found connected..." message in the control panel launcher.

Repeated reboots and re-installs have done nothing to change this.

I have written to M-Audio several times and had no satisfactory answer or proposition. I am currently building a 2nd studio and would have liked to have working & reliable M-Audio eqpt installed, but this is impossible to consider in light of these incessant problems.

Can anyone suggest an equivalent (working) alternative?

Just got the latest driver installed & it looks like everything's working fine now.

I presume my bugging them got them to sort something out but it would've been nice to get a message like 'we're working on it'.

Still, I can go back & look round the shop again now ;-)
