Hey everyone.

I just got a new laptop (a Dell M1710) and the speakers in it are quite frankly, crap. So I've decided that I need some proper external speakers for it, im thinking some Logitech Z-2300. This leads me to my question. The laptops only AudioOut is a headphone slot so I need to know if these speakers will be able to connect and work to their full potential. The speakers in question are 2.1: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2173,CONTENTID=9372
The cables it comes with are said to be "Color coded audio cables". I assume this means more than one, hence it won't be appropriate for my headphone only slot.

If anyone can give me some tips that would be great.

Cheers

The headphone out is fine to use as your speaker interconnect, but that would be in stereo only. The sub would be rendered useless.

I have type power speaker setup one cable for the audio/ head phone out put and another comes out of the control speaker for the sub, But if you are using them for music production, You will need a decent set of reference speakers and a amp to drive them. I believe m-audio and along with a few others make a decent set up. Have fun doing the research I'm on my 3rd week now.
