Are you using Sonar in ASIO or WDM mode? When you say 'the record level is working' are you saying that you can hear it in the headphones but you are not able to get Sonar to recognize it?
THANKS,
Rick

Im using it in ASIO,it's working ok now but it is a strange system, when you plug in an instrument it can't be turned off, just turned up with the gain control,Sonar has all stereo tracks so when recording it shows up on one side of the waveform only.it's kind of like a dual mono type of thing?the latency doesn't have as much headroom the emu card i was using, but the control of the playback and input is a great idea. The control panel is quite basic and should have some routing options in it maybe?

I am personally not too familiar with Sonar. I'm a Cubase/Nuendo kind of guy. However, if you have a specific question, you can write to support@presonus.com and they will be glad to try and help. We have a couple of Sonar users in our tech support group.
Kind Regards,

Raised,
I am not sure of your setup but I use Sonar and when I select the input from the Firepod that I want on the track it shows a pretty long list. Basically, the first item on the list is input channels 1/2 in stereo which would record both channels 1 and 2. The next item on the input list is channels 1/2 Left and channels 1/2 Right. These would correspond to inputs 1 (left) and 2 (right) on the Firepod. Selecting input 1 (Left) will give you a mono recording from just input 1 on the firepod. The list will continue in this same format of stereo using 3/4, then seperate using 3 (left) and 4 (right) then 5/6 then 7/8.
Hope this helps.

Also there is a stereo mono switch on each track. I keep mine on mono, then I pan, unless I'm using a stereo keyboard or other stereo instrument.. I keep my buses in stereo.
He's right you assign the input for each track(which pre you want to record from). Mine says input 1, 3, 5, 7 left and right. "1 left" would be input 1 (on the FIREPOD)and "1 right" is input 2 (on the FIREPOD) ....."3 left" would be input 3, "3 right" would be input 4 and so on....
The default outputs are 1 & 2 or you can assign to one of the individual 8 outs.
Also, you have to click the record button on each track to arm for record. In addition, if you click the monitor button on eack track, you can monitor while recording, using the on-screen faders for levels. this also enables you to hear plugin effects
(post or pre).
SONAR Producer edition is awesome. Hang in until you learn how to use it.
