Hi,
I have bought the
M-AUDIO FIREWIRE 18/14 + BEHRINGER ADA8000 combination. Ive got all the drivers installed on the computer, and the 2 units connected correctly with an ADAT lightpipe cable. I cant seem to get the M-Audio to recognise the ADA8000. In the control panel when I click the use "external device" box, the sample rate changes from 44100 to "Unlocked", and I get no sound atall from anywhere until I switch back to the "use internal inputs".

Im using a Mac book pro with mac OS x 10.4.7.

Can anyone tell me how I get both these units to work together properly?
or if there is some compatability issue with it being an intel mac?

Check your wordclock, make sure the 1814 is master and the berry is slaved to it via the adat link.

... and you're probably better off using 2 (that's T-U-E) light pipes...

Hi,
Thanks for your replies.
Im not sure how I ensure the 1814 is the master.
On the ADA8000 there is a switch on the rear with the following options.

WC in, ADAT in, 48.0KHz, 44.1 KHz,

The first 2 say SLAVE underneath, and the 2nd 2 say MASTER underneath. Ive tried the switch set to all 4 though but it seems to make no difference.

Could I be using the wrong cable?

I spent several hours trouble shooting my 1814 and Octane 8 channel preamp. I finally decide to try a different optical cable and it solved the problem. Sorry if there are any Hosa fans out there, but I do not recommend their optical cables. They just didn't work.

Thanks
D

The 1814 settings are possibly in the software... owner's manual should tell you how to do it. The Behringer manual is lacking, but if you have two light pipes, put the Behr as "Slave", the 1814 as "Master" (the term may be "Internal") and be sure they are both set to either 44.1 or 48kHz sample rate. You'll need to read-up on the subject more in the 1814 owner's manual, as the 1814 ADAT inputs probably aren't normally "on" by default, and you'll most likely have other software setup work to do...
