I can´t get any sound from the analog outputs of my Audiophile 2496.
Everything seems OK: installation, recent driver, control panel. No conflicts.
There is sound visual activity in mixer window, but no sound from the outputs. I´ve tried to all PCI slots. No success.
The card has worked properly in another computer with similar specs.

Windows XP Professional, SP1, Pentium IV, 1,5 Gb RAM

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I´ve got to finish an important project this weekend.

Thanks a lot in advance.

To where have you directed the output in the Patchbay/Router? The direct output is WaveOut 1/2; any other choice involves more complications.

What software are you using it with? More sophisticated programs require the correct choice in the program's setup/preferences. Other programs require that the output you want to use be selected in the Control Panel's Multimedia section. Does the computer contain any other soundcard, such as a built-into the motherboard one?

Thanks, AndyH.
I use WaveOut 1/2 in Patchbay.
I´ve tried several programs (Cubase SX, Wavelab,...), and also Windows
Sound Control Panel.
My motherboard (Asus P4 B533) has built-in audio, but I disabled it (using jumpers). This was not a problem with other cards, as Terratec EW88MT.

If I understand, you have H/W Out 1/2 assigned to WaveOut 1/2 in the Patchbay/Router page. On the Monitor Mixer page you see activity on the meter display labeled WaveOut 1/2 and (unless WaveOut 1/2 is muted), on the one labeled Master Volume. Yes?

With that setup, I can't not get output at the output jacks. What happens if you feed a signal to the input jacks, does that get through to your recording program? It may be that the card itself is broke. I'm assuming you've verified that your analogue monitoring setup is truly functional.

Thanks again. It seems to be a motherboard/bios issue. I´ve check the card in two more computers, with different mobos, but the same OS, Service Pack, driver and control panel settings, and it works perfectly.

It takes all kinds. I've read a variety of complaints, but this is the first I've seen for that particular one with the Audiophile. The Echo Mia is a popular card that few people seem to have difficulty with. I had to test mine on six different computers before I found one that didn't have trouble recording with it.

The audiophile isn't more subject to problems than any other card out there. The drivers are tried and true. If there is a problem with getting Audio out, it could be myriad of possible problems.

I would want to start by tracing your analog signal path to be sure monitoring is setup correctly. In the years that I've worked tech support, hour long conversations would end with "oh, I forgot to plug the 1/4" cables in to my speakers." I say this not to insult anyone but to point out how easy it is to miss the simplest of mistakes.

My electronics teacher in college made lots of money walking in to trouble shoot problems that simply required the "faulty" device be plugged in to power after the socket was accidentally kicked out of the wall.

Then I'd investigate what IRQ the Audiophile card is on.

Can you give more information about your setup?

Thanks
