I was hoping to set up some midi instruments to play live..
what is a good live set-up?

If you do this, and know some examples of really neatso stuff that is good for a live-set up, I am so interested in performing live electronica..

so this way when I make a good selective shopping, Ill know what to get when I upgrade my studio..

thanks!!!

What sort of sounds are you after? Are you looking for something computer-based, or a hardware approach? (That is SOOOO ten years ago...)

well, I like spacesynth, italo disco, all the genres of drum n bass, I mean, according to the Ikushur website, there are 180 genres of electronica.
I want to be both melodic and industrial.. so, I am still learning.. to me making tunes is a journey, so I'll discover what tunes I want to make..

Yeah, ten years ago.. well that was when Bjork toured in her post tour. I saw her tour in detroit and toronto. It was very sweet and amazing, and right now Im verklempt and heartbroken over such a quick passing of time..

so, well, I guess it's a matter of aesthetics when it comes to what I'd use to play live. But anyhow, there were many beautiful things ten years ago just as now..

but I thank you for your input. Id love to know what the technological advancement has been for live electronica during these past years, and what is so kewlt and hi-tech now..

I guess I cant be too picky, with whatever gear I can get.. so I'll be lucky to put it all together. thanks.

ciao.

If electronica is your thing, I'd definitely be looking at a laptop and a collection of killer software instruments. Propellerheads Reason (http://www.sweetwater.com/reasonsoft/) is probably the most popular piece of software for this, but it's by no means your only choice. More likely, a combination of several software packages tied together with one tactile controller like Kore (http://www.sweetwater.com/kore/) from Native Instruments or the JazzMutant Lemur (http://www.jazzmutant.com/lemur_overview.php) will serve you best.

Of course, you'll need a keyboard controller to master it all. I'm partial to the new UF line (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=cme+uf&tt=1&go=Go%21) from CME, but there are tons of options there.

wow, that looks great.
Ohh, that Jazzmutant Lemur is super duper awesome suggestion.. I would so much dig that..

hm.. I think a lot of people use reason, I don't know, Id thought Abelton Live would be great for live..

since I have sound modules, and I like retro midi instruments, I thought that adding small midi instruments, sound modules, and putting them together with a laptop and a keyboard controller would be the way to go.. I dunno. It all depends, man. But thats really a great idea. I can't wait to get a laptop. Thanks.
