Hey guys, i'm going to nail my speakers to my wall (finally) and i was wondering
whats that thing called that detects where the wood is behind the wall, and not just plaster
How high up should place my speakers (the ceiling is about ten feet high) (im usually going to be sitting on a couch with my head about 4 feet high)

If you are using your speakers for mixing recordings in the studio put them at ear level and keep them at the same distance from you in a triangular configuration in other words; if the speakers are six feet apart then you want to be 6 feet from the middle of speakers for best audio, if they are for general playback nail'em up high in each corner of the room or suspend them with hooks and wire from the ceiling for a stereo set-up...hope this makes sense to you .

for near field monitors, you need to place the center of the speaker at ear level.
or if that is not feasable, you need to aim the center of the speaker at your ear.
