Hey

I've been looking for a solution for these glitches I keep getting in my laptop Asus A6VA with the M-Audio firewire audiophile. It happens in all sound applications, Cubase SX, WaveLab (so recordings come up with glitches) and DVD player. It could be my settings or electronic instability in the current, to rule this out I'll be testing it at a friend's.
The audiophile buffer is set to 1024 samples, sample rate is 44100 Hz, sync source is internal, direct monitoring is set to direct monitoring off (A)/on (B). Output has 1/2 out, 3/4 out and spdif out enabled.
Any ideas?

Thx

There are several things you can try to fix the audio related issue, but I've a feeling the 'V' in A6VA probably stands for VIA, in which case the firewire controller chipset is more than likely one powered by VIA and the chipsets are known to cause problems for audio interfaces.
1) If using the m-audio for everything audio related, be sure to disable the on-board soundcard in the BIOS
2) Go to www.musicxp.net and tweak the system to your specs. The two most important tweaks(IMHO) are processor scheduling and indexing service....these should be addressed promptly.
3) Make sure BIOS has been flashed to most current version and that all device drivers are up to date.
4) Make sure the M-Audio card/Firewire bus has it's own IRQ.
5) If your unable to correct audio shortcommings using the above advice then a PCMCIA/firewire cardbus interface equiped with a TI(Texas Instruments) chipset is needed to connect the M-Audio card.
