Hello,

Currently I'm running a Vs-880 at my church and I need to upgrade to something with more channels because we need to add mics. But, we also want to be able to connect a PC to the sound system to be able to play songs "on the fly". What would be a good mixer for me to get to be able to do this? If anyone recommends a model/brand that would be great. Otherwise, what sepcifications do I need to look for in a mixer to make sure it has the capability to do that.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Take Care,
Adam

To add to that, what kind of sound card would you recommend as well?

Thanks again,
Adam

could you elaborate on the vs 880 and what you mean by PC "on the fly"? how many mics & what's the budget? Are you mic'ing choir, p&w, drums etc.:)

thanks for the reply 87.

I'm new to the pro audio gear, but here is the vs-880 http://www.supersonica.com/public/Products/Roland/VS880/Rol_VS880_PRD-en.htm

Basically I have two mics, two speakers and a CD player/burner going into it and we control the volume for the mics and cd player on the mixer.

When I say play songs on the fly, right now we have wait for the CD to load, if we want to change CDs that takes time, etc, etc. If I have a computer driving the whole thing instead of a CD player, we can just click on what song we want and don't have to worry about CDs.

I'd like to have4 mics. One for the pulpit, two for choir/singers and one for the audience audio. I'd also like to connect a keyboard eventually.

As far as budget goes, I'm not really sure. I know we want to do this so I'm assuming whatever it takes.

Thanks for your help.
Adam

We recently upgraded our Church sound system and went with the Ramsa Da7 for much of the same reasons as you site; that and the total recall ability. You can pick one up only from Ebay for about $1k with adat and/or tascam cards. Install a Motu 2408 or RME 96/52 and your good to go. To see more info on the mixer, check http://www.da7.com.

You could connect any computer with stereo sound output into a mixer with an RCA-to-1/8" cable.
