I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with centrino 750 1.86, 1GB DDR2, 80gb hdd...etc. Recently the duo came out and I was thinking of upgrading. Now the question is...is the hew centrino duo at 1.6 faster than my centrino 1.8??? will cubase sx3 take advantage of the new duo thing and boost my performance ot will it be the same as my 1.8 now? this is a vey important issue for me and probably for other people around who have bought the old centrino just before the duo came out and still we have paid the same money as we could of paid for the duo!!! thanks

any opinions very much apreciated

If your running SX3, you'll get a substantial performance benefit with a dual core processor.

Core has quite a few improvements over the older Centrino Pentium M chips like faster floating point and vector units, both of which are damn important to audio. Core solo will be a bit faster than a Centrino setup and Core Duo will cream it in multithreaded applications, like the aforementioned SX3, or Sonar, or Nuendo... etc.

The core duo is a hell of a chip IMO.
