Do the nForce4 mobos using USB audio interfaces have the same problems as with PCI interfaces? I ask because my computer (with GA-K8NS Ultra939 mobo) is having a problem and the manufacturer is having trouble finding the problem, and wants to upgrade mobo and video card to PCI-e. I'm just using an edirol USB interface. I need to decide quickly. Thanks.

I've just changed to this mobo and having problems with my Yamaha O1v96 Digital mixer USB connection running Studio manager software V2. It usually works from cold start but after a time say 10 minutes the graphic updating display of the mixer panel on the computer starts to show flashes of full scale deflection of channels that aren't even in use. Updating of slider movements on the O1V96 are very slow to show on the computer and at times the dreaded " this program needs to shut down occurs". It even says "no connection check cables". Has anyone else had USB problems with this mobo. Note the Printer and flash drive seem to work ok on the USB. I've tried other Usb ports same problem. Tried mixer on my laptop ok no such problem. Could there be a Usb heating problem?

The Gigabyte MoBo is probably one of the most stable of the NForce3 Ultras and issues with NForce3 and soundcards are a very rare occurance....NForce4 is not a solution and have many more issues with soundcards than it's NForce3 counterpart. What problems are you seeing?

Any USB audio device should be on an unshared USB bus. Other devices sharing this bus will cause issues....especially printers. USB is not the best solution for audio, a dedicated USB/PCI card may be needed.

Yes. That's why I got that board in the first place. But the manufacturer says it's bad and needs to replace it. So I'm just wondering if the known problems with the nForce4 mobos surface when USB interfaces are used. My first interface was an Echo Layla (20bit) which I liked but found i didn't need all the ins and outs. I get a better sound now out of my edirol USB. If the nforce4 mobos are not ok with USB, what would be an alternative(I'm sticking with Athlon.)

I have not heard of any specific issues related to the NForce4 when using a USB soundcard. That said, NForce4 based boards perform poorly with single core processors, dual core processors seem to somewhat mask the issues facing the NForce4. Have you looked into replacing your board with another NForce3 or VIA K8T800 pro based board?

The "upgrade" to nforce4 would include Gigiabyte nforce4 mobo, new videocard (geforce7600) as well as Athlon64 X2 dual core 4000+. The guy I spoke with mentioned an MSI board but I think he meant nforce4. I'm not sure they have any nForce3 (or Via based) mobos left. They might have ASUS boards, but still, not nForce3.

Ay ay ay...this thread ain't the most encouraging news I wanted to read!

I just panic-bought one of these mobos this weekend because they're running out fast, and as I await the rest of what will constitute my DAW setup, I was wondering whether I should use either my ESI Waveterminal 2496 or my Emagic EMI 2/6.

Looks like it will be the former that I'll be using...pity!
Itsplayed, any solid solutions from your part buddy?
