Using soundcard software on puter without the soundcard

What's up! I'm relatively new at mixing w/ my puter. Did it a few times with my turntables using Audigy 2 on my desktop. I recently bought a Dell E1505 notebook which has a integrated factory soundcard (SigmaTel Crap). There wasn't the option to upgrade to the Sound Blaster card.I wanted to run the software that came with Audigy 2 (Wave Lab Lite, Cubasis VST, DJ Traktor) on the notebook. DJ Traktor simply says it needs the soundcard. understandable. Wave Lab opens but won't allow me import any wav or mp3 files. Cubasis won't open. Not being the most puter saavy, I was wondering if there way to run these without having the physical soundcard in the computer. Creative doesn't make an ExpressCard soundcard yet (I don't think anyone does). Are External USB cards any good? Download drivers or try the install disk? Supposedly the onboard card can handle ASIO type software.

Creative does make a PCMCIA soundcard...it's the EMU 1616(M) and comes with an impressive software bundle. If this card is out of your budget and your demands are not too great, USB cards are acceptable and will be miles ahead of your onboard soundchip.

I forgot to mention something very important. I only have an ExpressCard slot, so internal cards are out of the question. I'm looking at the Audigy 2 NX. It's not as nice as the ZS, but I've heard that Creative doesn't even have a ExpressCard soundcard in the works.

Your better off staying away from both Creative and USB for your recording solution. If your notepad sports a firewire interface take that route instead. There are more expensive options, but here a couple of interfaces for the more budget minded.
