Nasty Fumes in the Drum Room

Three years ago, I thought I had it all figured out when I built my studio, 16 X 32 building, divided into a 12X16 drum room and 20X16 live room, I put a ramp out back going into the drum room so I could park my motorcycle, there was a slight problem with fumes, but aired out quickly with the bike out, the door open and then a/c turned on, but now I've been building this hardtail, suicide clutch, bobber in the drum room and the parking space has turned into a motorcycle shop! It smells like a garage in there...drummers beware, if ya ain't a gear head, don't come to my studio...if you like the smell of gas...common in. What to do....? With building materials so high at the present I can't build a M/C shop...man I put up a lean-two on the side of the studio for my riding mower (yes, I live in the country) and it cost a small fortune...hate to do it, but I guess I need to move the bike shop outside. I thought everyone loved the smell of gas, until mr. prissy came in and pinched his nose, maybe the fumes are still embedded in those Pearl's hehe

update on the fumes: yesterday wired up outside electric in leantoo, son built me a workbench, got the grinder on there now....watch out! drum room soon to smell like fabreeze by the seas with no gasoline undercurrent. now what tado about that other smell....hummmm

I have several Trumpets....68' Bonnie 650, 72' Daytona 500 and a 77' Bonnie 750 that I've had since turning 17 back in 1978.

right down my alley...I had Trumpets back in the 70's, 71 650 Bonny and a 74 500, both chopped hardtails, latest rides, 97' Vulcan 1500 Classic and 03' Lowrider. The 650 Bonny engines were alot more dependable than the Sporty's of the that time (had one ratchet knee), 'cept getting use to the positive ground wiring. I'm fabricating a chopped YamXS650 right now, solid motor. Is the 750 you have a Trident?? How about a pic. Good to see a rider on the forum.

rode a motoguzzi (a friend who left it with me for about 6 months) LC, inline transverse...!!!.. LOL... 'cant remember the model though...

vulcan, I'd take that ol' Matchless in a heartbeat, cool ol' scooter, and I also had a Motto Guzzi at one time, it was a 1,000cc California the guy I bought it from had put all Harley Electra Glide bags, trunk, windshield on it, looked pretty cool, the cyclinder heads sticking out on each side were a bummer in the summer, but a heater in the winter lol The 82' Yamaha XS 650 that I'm building now was given to me by a friend, he welded a hardtail on it and never finished building the bike. Wiring up now. Drum room still smells!

LOL... yeah those inline transverses are crazy with the heads sticking out... ;) ... i remember this motoguzzi i rode used to kinda dip to the left when i hit the gas.... that was so strange.... LOL...

BTW the matchless i had was such a pain to maintain and ride.... the bike was really used/abused when i got it.... i spent some time on it, got it going and stuff... i had to make my own spares for it... so visits to the lathe machine shop was regular... :) i used to keep a rag on the bike, cause every time i rode it and got off i had to clean myself from all the greese and stuff.... LOL.... my girlfriend back then used to tell me, i smelt like a mechanic.... :D :D

dude...ya smelt like oil and gas:D cool, i can picture the shop rag hangin' outta your back pocket hehe most of the ol bikes need tlc and that's what makes them special. that motto guzzi must of had an old shaft drive, they would torque on ya when you give them the gas lol.;) vulcan... use to be a rider???:( ya got to picture this, i did a session last night, the drummer actually liked the smell in the drum room(biker at heart lol) I've got this 4X6 bass trap stuffed with 703 that i put inbetween them haha ya can hear the wrenches bouncing on the work bench (joking):)

:o so it was a faulty shaft huh!!... damn... LOL :p , i thought it was the character of the bike... ROTFL.. :D

BTW i was no serious biker or anything... there is no concept of a biker community here in my country... there are a few guys who are into it and all, but nothing like europe, japan or north america...

you are absolutely right, and i apologize for this thread turning into "bike talk" under studio and construction. the bike being in my drum room (studio) and creating nasty fumes started it all....pleeeze forgive me, pleeze, pleeze:o

okay....I was sitting on my shop roll-around installing the coil and plug wires on my bike (sorry had to throw that in:D ) and looking at the open spaces inbetween the absorptive material (aurelex) that I have in the drum room I started thinking about reflective surfaces and the 100 or so useless burnt CD's I have from demo mixing songs, here's the question...what about taking the adhesive and glueing these CD's on the ceiling and walls to create a reflective surface, they have to reflect, right? I decided that I am going to experiment and try this out, I have about 40% ceiling and wall space available and I'll strategically place the CD's (in my own mind haha) as to where they need reflective powers, results coming in the weeks ahead stay tuned for more fumes and glue.

Nasty fumes in the drum room even got nastier as it was transformed into a paint spray booth, burgandy metalic anyone? haha Had a band in Saturday to record and spent all day Friday cleaning the drum room (ugh) it was a mess, but the drummer didn't even comment on any smells, I guess the O-factory senses are diminished in all the excitement of laying down tracks, the session went real well, and the band was extremely happy when they left...humm could it have been the mind knumbing affects of cherry red pearl lacquer?
