Hello
I need a new power supply - My original one started to flake out and the cheapie I replaced it with seems to be creating horrible hum
I'm looking at Antec smartpower 2.0
Are these quiet / reliable?
Should I go 350 watt or 400 watt? I originally had 350
any other well priced alternatives?
My set up is Athlon XP 1800, Asus A7n266-VN, 2 hardrives - no fancy graphics cards
Thanks

By the way, does anybody know where I can buy adopters for 220V, to use American gear in Europe. And what troubleshootings may occur? Thanks!

urozhay,
As stated before, the adapters aren't very expensive or hard to come by. I will say one thing since I brought my recording stuff to Europe and had some issues. Buy a decent quality adapter AND converter (you need both depending what gear you're using) The cheap adapters don't like to fit tight enough to fit hang onto heavy duty plugs and just become a pain in the ass. With that said, the one thing you can expect from euorpean power is expect the unexpected. This is no rip on anybody in Europe, but I brought a recording rack with a power conditioner that I had a Digi 002, a firewire Hard Drive and a powerbook hooked to a adapter/converter when I was recording in Norway and I blew my powerbook adapter, a guitar amp, and damn near my hard drive before I just shut it all down. They were all going through a Furman power conditioner and it didn't do anything to help it. Long story even longer....prepare all you can...and then still expect the unexpected since the power is less regulated.

Thanks for your post. Ye that's the problem, because I heard a lot of stories about guys blowing their 120V gear in Europe. So what you said is that I'm not 100% insured no matter what adapter/converter I buy, right? Well, I'll hope for the best. Danke schon!
