Hi all... I'm having trouble getting my head around this midi stuff, and it's driving me crazy.

OK.. I've set up a practice room adjacent to my recording room (will double as the actual live room eventually..)

Anyway, I'm running SONAR 4 and an m-audio 2496. I just bought a small control surface from Behringer, called a B-Control Nano BCN44, which is perfect for what I need, but alas, I'm having trouble.

What I want to do is simply have this thing in the other room, so while we're working on stuff, i can use it as a remote transport control, nothing more. I've successfully gotten Play, Stop and Record to work, but now I'd like to get a Jog/shuttle type thing going through one of the knobs.
No matter what I do, I can't seem to get it to work. I understand the basics of Sonar's Generic Control Surface, and how to "Learn" from midi signals. The problem I'm facing is, even when it seems to receive said midi commands, it refuses to work for me. I don't know enough about all the MIDI signal types to even know what's wrong. NRPN? CC? I don't even know what type of command to send. I've figured out pretty much how to program the controller, but I don't know WHAT to program it to.

LONG STORY SHORT: I'd like to have one of these knobs work as a jog wheel, and I'd love to have a button set to RTZ as well. If anyone is familiar with Sonar and MIDI, please hELP MEH!! If you can tell me the correct midi commands to have my controller send, I can work out the rest, i hope :)

Thank you.

Instead of just telling me everything, does anyone know where I can find a list of MIDI commands and what they're used for? Maybe I can figure it out from there.
