Just wanted to throw that out there. Was considering the possibility of a new DAW utilizing a dual dual processor mobo/engine. I dont even know if that is a possibility using asus as th company for the mobo.

Also will my DAW be that much Awsomer (speed, workflow, mult-plugins, etc)?????????

Yes it will be, all benchmarks prove it to be so, as well as real world testing. As for ASUS, if this is your preferred board maker, the board you want is the A8V.

Well I thought Asus is the best option for DAW's and in the double-dual processor option...... Is there something better I should go with?????

Are you talking 2 sockets with 2 dual core chips for 4 logical processors?

That'd be a Dual Opteron board. Tyan, MSI, Asus and some others make those. They get expensive, but are the fastest thing on the planet.

Your right Wogg, I misunderstood. Without a doubt, a dual processor-dual core Opteron socket 940 setup would be the king in the DAW world, but it comes at a price. The mainboard to look at for such a beast is the Tyan Thunder K8WE (S2895) w/NForce4Pro chipset. The biggest issue with this board however is the lack of standard PCI slots....sporting only one. So if you want to also use DSP cards(ie. UAD-1, POCO) with that setup, you'll need a Magma chassis(very costly) to supply the needed slots. You'll also need to run (AFAIK) Windows XP64 to address those 4 processors.

There's gotta be a better option than that single pci slot mobo and that expensive chassis. I'm digging arounf as we speak, hopfully aby the end of the day I'll have a list of solutions.
