Hi, just about to purchase an IBM Deskstar 40G - ATA100 -60GXP for either a Mac G4-466MHz or a G4-733MHz to use as a dedicated audio drive. I've noticed that if I purchase this drive from one certain PC store, the price is about $50 cheaper. Are the deskstar drives equally compatible to Mac and PC's? Is there an adapter needed or other complicated technical know-how? Any info is greatly appreciated

Nevermind all thus readers...I talked to a lady from a well reputed computer store specializing in audio systems and she said that the drive is fine for Mac as well, no adapter or such needed. The only question now is why there is a $80 difference in retail price between the same item in different stores less than 1km apart from each other. A lot of people are getting screwed on the cost. I guess the moral is to shop around.

I've used the IBM 40 gig drive in both my Mac and my PC, no problems in either. This baby screams. Some vendors sell the bare drive cheaper than the retail box version. I've seen this drive now for a shade over $100 in the US.
