Help with 5.1 Ectiva (noob)

Hi there all,

I am very new to this all, and was after a bit of help with a sound card i bought (Creative Ectiva 5.1) and my Logitech Z-5500 surround system. The problem is this,
when i hook up the system and play music in the 6 Channel Input mode, it only comes out the front left and right speakers and the sub. I can put the system on Stereo X2 mode and it will come out of the rear speakers, but obviosly not in real 6 channel mode. When i play a game in 5.1 mode the sound comes out all channels without a problem. So it's only with music and DVD's.

I downloaded a 5.1 test wav file, and when i play it in winamp it comes out only the two front channels but if i play it in Windows Media Player it goes through all the channels fine.

Does anyone know what would be causing this problem?? Or has anyone else experianced the same problem?

So everything works fine except for winamp? Winamp isn't 5.1 compatible like windows media. Not sure why your DVD player isn't spitting out all the channels. What does your DVD use as a player?

I tried playing music through windows media player too though, and it was still only coming out of the front speakers??

I use Direct DVD player to play DVD's.
