Hi all, new to the forum and was looking for a bit of help. :D

I am moving to a new flat and was looking at a new computer controlled audio setup. Basically I have a high end PC/Server(with SoundBlaster 5.1 card) with all my audio files on stored in the office, I was then planning on a touch screen panel mounted in the main living area to control the playlists using Windows Media Centre(or similar). I could also control it by VNC from my laptop using wireless.  :D

My issue is this:

I will have the main speaker setup in the living area, but would also like to be able to switch between setups in other rooms of the flat, or even during a party have the same music playing throughout the flat. So can I get anything that can be controlled using the PC to split the audio between the rooms?

Thanks in advance guys :D

maybe you should look at using multiple sound cards.
if you are using the computer for playback only, i dont see it as a problem to put 2,3 or even 4 sound cards in the computer. one for each place you want to play music.
then run the outputs to your amps in the individual areas. (use shielded cable for your signal path)
then with the setup mentioned above, you could play different music at the same time in different rooms.
