Hello all... I'm new around here and so far liking it much. great resource.
I've have begun the transition. After a few years of using PC's primarly I've gone back to the MAC. =0)
I'm running a Powerbook G3 400 laptop, dual USB and Firewire, 256 RAM, OSX. I just got it a few days ago and needless to say it's like an old friend moved back into town.
So what I'm looking for hear is a little help. I dabbled in audio on the PC. This included using ModPlug tracker, a little cooledit/soundforge, FruityLoops (I really dug a few things about Fruityloops), and assorted other little vocoder apps, etc.
But that all seems to be in the past now, so no point looking back.
Can any of you folks point me towards some good spots to find aduio software, websites, etc. for the mac?
1.I'm looking for some software that will let me record. Not really any multi-track recordig at this point, just something that will let me record my turntables from the output on my mixer, and then burn it to CD.
2. I'd like to find something similar or better than what fruityloops did. Anyone still using Recycle? How about some synths, or samplers controlled by Midi from other apps? anything fun and cool.
3. I guess a multitrack program. Let's say soemthing that will let me take two 20 min mixes from my turntables, add a recording of someone singing on top of them, add the sound of a big wave crashing in there and save it all out as one mixed file.
4. Any cools external hardware (toys). Drum machines, MIDI keyboards, whatever. I'm not to hip to MIDI but from what I know it looks cool. and only using a computer for everything seems to get a little bland to me.
My budget isn't really large at all at this point, but I'd like to add along the way. Right now I'd be happy to get started on recording some live mixes fom my turntables, mastering them, and burning them to CD.
And as a footnote the music I'm into production wise is Downtempo, Drum&Bass, and Hip hop type stuff.......
thanks.. sorry this was a bit winded. =0)
