This system Rocks...Firewire Rules!

Hey,

I just wanted to let everyone know: If you've been wondering how a good Firewire HD and the MOTU 828 Firewire interface work in the real world, I have a G3 350mhz w/256 MB of ram. I am using Digital Performer 2.7 and a La Cie 60gig HD.
In 2 solid weeks of use, I have yet to have any problems with this system. It is very quiet (No fan) I am getting 21-26 tracks of Digital Audio w/Plug ins. It performs flawlessly. Plus...I sounds awesome!

What kind of computer and OS are you running?

Are you using a firewire hub?

Are you recording directly to your firewire drive or to your internal and using the firewire for storage?

I tried using a Motu 828 with a Dell Inspiron and it DID NOT WORK well. I got consitent audio drops on record and playback. Talking to Motu tech support they said that they've had a lot of trouble with DEll's.

I just got an Apple Pwerbook G4 (haven't received it yet) and I'm really hoping it will work out.
