I have been using an imic for recording instruments, vocal, and cassette. I have had much success with it. Recently I got a second hand computer that I want to use exclusively for my audio work. However, I have been getting alot of noise with the imic on the new computer. It sounds like an extremely dirty vynal record. I cannot seem to find where the noise is coming from. I have checked my settings from my old computer and everything is the same. I am using XP for both computers. I have ruled out any of my instruments, mics, or cables. It is definatley a problem with the imic or some setting in the computer. Can anyone help me find where my problem is coming from?

sounds like the USB on that computer is noise. It happens. Somtimes the USB port is tied to a ground on the motherboard that allow noise from the power supply or other componets.

I would suggesting investing on either a PCI USB card or getting a REAL audio interface. The iMic has limited dynamic range which is only going to degrade your overall quality.

You might not think so now but, you don't know what your missing till you use some better gear with some better dynamic range. Some really good harmonics are out there, go get em!
