I have owned a hoontech c-port for past couple of years-before that a guillemot Isis card. have been out of the loop with forums and the market-happily making music. Am now wanting to upgrade my home studio and would like some suggestions on soundcards. I have been happy with the Hoontech but feel its time to try and improve the overall quality of my sound. will be doing this in stages by upgrading software, buying some better mics and a new soundcard and upgrading the computer and improving the sound of the room.

have looked at digi002 rack -this is the type of thing would be my price bracket. Downside of the 002 is that I would have to learn protools, which could be good, but may involve a learning curve etc. Also have been a cubase user for 8 years so not keen on giving that up.Any other suggestions. Have to be able to run enough channels simultaneously to record drums (say 8 channels-just to be safe). what are others using these days?????

RME Products are the best! (http://www.rme-audio.com/english/products.htm)

I have an HDSP96/52 (http://www.rme-audio.com/english/hdsp/hdsp9652.htm) and Multiface (http://www.rme-audio.com/english/hdsp/multifa.htm) running 32 ins and 44 outs with SX.
Plus you get Digicheck (http://www.rme-audio.com/english/digicheck/index.htm)!

I have the c-port setup.....very pleased with it, you know you can install up to 4 of those cards in your pc. those and the interfaces, you have 32 tracks at once providing you have the machine to run it. The protools stuff is good and not hard to learn, just expensive and proprietary......you gotta use their gear! Go to sta's web site and check out the new stuff
