Hi all,

I have a question about studio wiring.

I have a small voiceover recording studio in our office. Talent and mics are in an acoustically treated room, and the rest of the equipment is in an adjoining room. Right now, all of the cables between the rooms go under the door. I was to clean this up a bit.

I would like to install some wall plates on the adjoining wall, which is a framed out curtain wall w/o any power. I have looked around and seen that Proco make single and double gang wallplates with XLR and 1/4" jacks. I have no problem with the actual construction aspect of installing some NEMA boxes and the actual wiring, but I am not sure what to do about the faceplates and the type of wiring between them.

Which is the better idea: install a full box on each side of the wall offset from each other and fish cable between them, or install a low voltage box on each side so that the backs line up?

Will either of these solutions end up being too noisy?

What kind of cable should connect the faceplates?

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.
