Hi guys,

I have an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 card.

When I try to send a spdif signal out of the card, it only shows up at 16 bit. But I would like it to be a 24 bit digital output signal.

Can I send a 24 bit spdif signal with this card?

yes the audiophile does 24 bit out spdif.

What software are you using? And are you sure that the material that you are sending is 24 bit?

Bit depth is normally a function of the software and not the audio card. As long as your sending audio that is within the specification of the hardware. And 24 it is a function of the audiophile

thanks for your reply.

i'm using FruityLoops 5. it says "output set to 16 bit, 44,100khz".

I tried going into the FruityLoops audio menus, and the M-audio soundcard menus, but I can't find any way to change from 16 bit to 24 bit.

If your program only gives the option of 16bit, then that's all you will get. As per Sui's response, the 2496 will reflect the bit rate of audio you were sending through it, nothing more, nothing less.

thanks,

i found some obscure ASIO menu that allowed me to get the the bit-setting stuff.
