One of the reasons I haven't ripped all my CDs to WAV is the laborious process of putting in a CD, ripping , repeat. My Sony 200 CD player has an optical out. Is there any way maybe I could auto rip these to WAV or some other no-bit-loss format ?
Also can someone recommend a PC card that will output a digital stream to my stereo system's outboard ADCOM DAC ? I'd like to use some jukebox software to create a playlist of WAV files and have them 'processed' in order to produce the same digital feed as a CD player would. Sorry for my noob terminology.
Thanks
Best way to rip is by putting the audio CD in your PC CD rom drive, and use a tool like exact audio copy (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/)
Any soundcard with SPDIF out can be connected to your outboard DAC. But personally I am not so happy with connecting a PC to your stereo with electrical wiring (SPDIF) cause a lot of ungrounded PC's cause groundloops and unwanted voltage difference on the cable (half the powersupply's voltage to be precise)
I would (in fact I have) opted for an optical connection ; toslink.
In my case I have a pro soundcard with SPDIF ins and outs, these are converted to optical by my M-audio CO2.
Playing waves is easy, but what kind of processing would you like to do?

Well I want to do no processing. I just want to switch the storage media of my purchased music ('bits') from plastic disks to hard drives. Then be able to use software to create custom playlists. My ultimate wish is that the stream coming of the optical port on my current CD player to be identical to the stream coming out the optical port on some sound card I buy (if possible).
Thanks
I backup my CD with Audiocatalyst.
It may seems long but with cddb all your title will be on the drive. Otherwise you will have to rename all your files; THAT is long.
I simply put a stack of cd besides me and I ripped them all while I was loosing my time on the net.
At +/- 18X encoding it's WAY faster than playing 200 CDs realtime...
