with SP2 coming around, i gotta ask, ..

how many people run there DAW with the vanilla straight off the CD XP install ?

anyone note any advantages or disadvanteges? and is there something critical you need for OS operations thats not on the CD.

i guesss well have to keep this to a non networked DAW machine, cause i know you need plenty while having XP online.

thanks !

I am not a big fan of Service Pack updates in general, so I have a dual boot O/S, 1 for audio only that has no Internet connection and it runs great. The Service Packs mainly address security issues and bloat the operating system which can negatively affect overall performance. I have yet to see an XP Service Pack that directly improves ASIO, WDM, etc. audio performance
