hello everyone!

i stumbled on a site called muffledcomputing.com

they have two cool looking products.

one is a "muffler" that you glue to the outside of your case over your power supply fan area. it's a box looking thing that blocks the sound because the box makes the air travel through a convoluted foam corridor.

anybody use one?

also they have this stuff called "whispermat". the 1/2" stuff looks real nice, but I'm worried over time it would start to flake apart and spew foam debris all over my mobo.

any thoughts on this stuff too?

Have not experienced it. But I can say that you can get a super silent heatsink fan combo as well as a 80mm silent PSU and avoid needing muffling all together.

You have to get the right ones though...

Anything that blocks airflow even if it is filtered causes heat. Thats not to say there product does not work but in my expereince too much noise blocking in anyway shape or form causes over heating at some level....

I would say the product is worth a try if they offer a return on it if does not help much...I will see if they will send me a sample to test out...

Thanks for the info but I know Mike Chin, nice guy decent reviews. I know what makes a system silent for hard audio usage after 3 years of doing it....

You have to change your level when it comes to DAW usage, like video stuff alot more pushing of the system creates heat and it has to go somewhere so too much modding of a machine only makes it over heat. A great Silent PSU and heatsink fan combo gets it sielnt without overheating. Add some acoustic foam inside and your there...

You can spend anywhere from $100-$1200 making your system more silent with all the stuff that is out there...
