I currently own a lian-li pc60 case (pictures and review here (http://www.exhardware.com/reviews.php?Id=33)), which i bought pre-modded a few years back. boy was i a fool... i thought the plastic window on the side and the big blowhole with a large loud fan would be cool. then i get it home... and it's loud enough to hear all around the house.

at the same time, i've been spoiled by what is really a great case. thumb screws, beautiful aluminum, removable motherboard tray, adjustable fan speeds... it's really a great case.

so i'm looking to stay away from the look of an alienware case- i'm looking for something sleek and professional. the only thing i've seen thusfar that is marketed as a quiet case is the antec sonata in "piano black"... i've heard it described as sleek, but so far i haven't seen any great pictures that make it look any different than a black dell. (if anybody knows of any good large pictures on the web somewhere, please let me know.)

i'd like to know more about the science of choosing a case. aluminum is good for cooling, but how about sound traveling through it? would metal be more inclined to vibrate?

also if you have specific suggestions on a case, i'd be very interested. i will most likely be storing three harddrives (possibly two), two CD-ROM drives, a floppy drive, a 400W Antec power supply, and a few PCI cards.

the other question is, barring buying a new case, is there anything i can do to make this one quieter? like i said, there's a huge blowhole with a fan on the top of it which creates a lot of noise... i was thinking of getting a damping kit, but that wouldn't do anything about the blowhole (and some of the other fans are starting to show some age).

any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Supposed to be quieter than the Sonata

Here's the one I wanted to buy, but just couldn't justify the cost:

The reviews on the P160 are nothing short of stunning.
