Maybe I'm out of line here, but I submit to the forum that a new member (leftfoot) is a software pirate and should not be helped with any issues he might raise. See the "Reason" forum thread titled "how many" for proof. I bring this up here because the "PC OS and Hardware" forum is the most widely read, and piracy is most rampant on the PC platform.

Software piracy is a leading cause of rising prices and annoying protection/authorization schemes, and I will not tolerate it. I SUPPORT programmers who make it possible for me to make music. Your thoughts?

i dont 100% agree that its becasue of piracy that prices are rising, more economics. the supply and demand curve. There are X number of people willing to pay for the program at a low price and Z number of people willing to pay for it at a higher price. The amount they make from Y is greater than X so they charge Y and blame it on pirating to try to force more people into buying it.

that being said, in no way do i support piracy.

i feel that losts of people who are now using cracked software were not in the market for buying it anyway because they not really serious users who want to shell out $500.
you can see that on different forums, questions like: "i got cubase sx can someone tell me how to use it?"how you gonna buy a piece of software without doing your research first.
If you serious about your workand have a business to run would you depend on cracked software? i would not, i'd buy the thing...

not to mention the fact that if you get audited and have cracked software you get massive fines.
