Help, I can't here any midi. I recently installed an Audiophile 2496 card and upgraded from guitar tracks 2 to cakewalk sonar 3. On Sonar 3, my soundcards Delta AP Midi driver shows up in the list and I can select it, but I cannot hear anything from midi. On Guitar Tracks 2, the Delta AP Midi driver shows up, but I can't hear anything from it either. Also, On Guitar Tracks 2, I have an additional midi choice of Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth. I am not sure what that is, but if I select it then I can hear midi. Unfortunately, this is not listed when I am in the Sonar midi setup area. Both programs show an additional midi driver: Microsoft Midi Mapper, but it doesn't work for either programs. I have gone to my device manager, but I don't see any conflicts. Also, I have an onboard sound card which I disabled in the bios (it didn't seem to make any difference).
Other than the midi problems, everything else is working great.

What are you using as your MIDI instrument? You need to route your MIDI signal to the input of a MIDI instrument and then listen to the output of that instrument. This can be either some sort of softsynth or outboard module.

The Audiophile does not have an onboard synth like Soundblaster's do. You need to either route MIDI data to a softsynth or external MIDI device.

I should have clarified. I don't have a midi instrument. I am just trying to hear the metronome and Sonar's built in Drum Machine, both of which I believe use midi. I know nothing about midi, do I need to do what you both were talking about above for the built in metronome and drum machine? Thanks.

You should be able to record notes onto a midi track. You can do this by drawing them in in the Key Editor. Once you've done this you need to direct the output of that track to your software drum machine. Then you need to route the "outs" of that track to your soundcard.
