Help, my tracks are merging together. I record track 1 no problem. Then I record track 2 while listening to track 1, but track 2 contains the sound from track 1 and track 2. I'm not sure if I need to install something more that came with the audiophile 2496 sound card. In the audiophile control panel I can choose to listen to just the line in or line in and audio. Underneath my tracks in cakewalk I can choose the input. There is not a choice for just the line in, (so I choose the m-audio monitor) even though the audiophile control panel recognizes just the line in.
I am using the audiophile 2496 pci sound card with cakewalk guitar tracks 2. Is guitar tracks 2 not compatable with the audiophile 2496 card? Please help, thanks.
Which input port are you using to record? Monitor mixer or analog ins?
If you are recording off the monitor mixer you are actually recording the direct output of the card ,without having to plug the outputs into the inputs.

In guitar tracks I am selecting Monitor Mixer as my input because my analog in is not showing up. But as you said, the monitor mixer is the direct out of the card and this is not what I want. I want to hear the previously recorded tracks but only record from my sound cards line in. So, I am trying to figure out a way to just select the analog input but haven't figured out how to do that.
OK,
So the hardware is working the way it should. Ah, wait were talking about Cakewalk here.
I do not know this program but, if it works like other cakewalk programs you are going to need to do some leg work.
Go to the audio properies and there is going to be tab were you can select your input and output devices. If analog in 1 and 2 are not highlighted then all you have to do is enable them.
If there are not there you are going to have to run the wave profiler. Let it do its thing, you should here some pops and clicks in your speakers/headphones. After it done you should see Analog 1 and 2 as an option. If you want you can deselect monitior mixer so you do not make the same mistake and record everything your doing onto one track.
Try it,

"Analog in" 1 and 2 isn't showing up in the audio properties. I will try running the wave profiler that you mentioned when I get home tonight. Do you know if the wave profiler is part of cakewalk or part of my operating system? Thanks very much for your help.

I ran the wave profile but it still didn't find the analog inputs. My soundcard came with a demo version of Ableton Live, so I loaded that and it found my analog inputs no problem. I am wondering if there might be a problem with guitar tracks 2 and the audiophile 2496.
