Fellow Audioheads,
I'm never really happy with the sound of my original MP3s that I upload to the internet. I know MP3 loses some quality when you convert it from wav, but sometimes I notice major differences.
I have the original Fraunhofer MP3 codec and I covert my wavs by "save as... MP3" on my Cool Edit Pro 2.0 wav editor.
I also notice MP3s sound different depending on which player you use....Winamp, Real, Windows Media Player, etc.
I once read that you should remix songs specially for posting on the internet. For example...I remember reading that you should never pan any track more than 15% left or right if mixing to MP3 because it'll effect how it sounds.
Can anyone please refer me to a link or website that teaches how to best mix for the internet.
Thanks,
DCO

oh, this is interesting,
i think you are right about the things you say,
just look at the options in CoolEdit when you wanna save as MP3.....

you can select several kinds of STEREO...

what is it ...like joined stereo, and other types...
they all change the stereo image of your file....
i know that one of the socalled "stereo" types is just a mono file that has been doubled....so nomore real stereo...

as you can feel, i'm not an expert in this, but i see your point,
would be great indeed, if someone could say more about this.

i never made seperate mixes for internet,
but when i listen to mp3's, the first thing i hear are the ****ED UP high frequencies...they sound like ****,
or lets say, they're kinda GONE....

so maybe if you wanna master a few songs especially for the net,
you shouldn't make them sound TOO bright, cause those sounds get the worst treatment when converting to mp3

...this is only my personal opinion...might be wrong,
if so....just TELL ME

cheers
