View Full Version : Hammerfall Routing Question

I've just installed an Optical Patchbay. I have a routing dilema as a result. I run my mic pre into my board for Monitoring and into the Hammerfall for recording, by splitting the signal in the Optical Patchbay. The problem is that ADAT1 (where the mic pre is routed) toggles between Lock and Sync. I was told that ADAT1 2 and 3 should be in Sync at all times. The only way I can get ADAT1 to sync is to route the board back into it rather than the Hammerfall.
Does anybody here have any ideas?

1. Is the sample rate on all devices the same?
2. Do you have the board routed to the Hammerfall card as well?
3. I'm assuming the Pre is used as the master clock and that the Hammerfall and mixer are set to sync to that clock - is that correct?

Sample is 44.1.
The DM-24 is going into ADAT2 and ADAT3.
The Hammerfall is going into the DM-24 from ADAT2 and ADAT3.
I'm using an Aardsync II as the master for everything. All settings are correct.

I have no idea and I'm just guessing here..... Is your adat set to the correct frequency i.e. 44.1 or 48 ?
IGWright,
what would be the disavdantage of this routing:
pre-amp to DM-24 Adat in and straight to
DM-24 adat out? I don't know what's your setup
and I don't own a DM-24...
but that's the way I work with DDX3216.
What pre-amp do you have?

Easto,
I don't own an ADAT. When I refer to ADAT1 etc., I'm refering to ADAT Optical ports in the Hammerfall. But yes everything is set to 44.1.
KX,
The routing you suggest would work except that it would tie up more of the Busses in the board. I'm using a Trak2.
All,
For some reason the problem seems to have fixed itself. I did some tweaking on the Trak2, but I don't know specifically what made things happen.
Thanks everyone,
Ian
