View Full Version : WAV won't save to MP3
Fellow audiophiles,
I usually don't have a problem saving my wav mixdowns to MP3. I have the original Fraunhofer MP3 codec which supposedly is the best.
For some reason this one song keeps getting these messages saying it needs to be in 44100 hz, 16 bit, mono (which it is already) before saving to MP3. So I convert it again (44100,16 bit) just to be sure but it still won't save to MP3.
Does this problem ring a bell with anyone.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, DCO

Never happened (maybe because I don't use it too much). But why do you need to convert to mono? Leave the file in stereo and try to convert it again.
Anyway, why change your mixdowns to MP3 format? Well, only if you have a portable MP3 player or wish to distribute the song via internet.

i hope this helps, it may seem rather duh u know but,
take your mixdown to edit view, right click and select entire wave,
goto Edit>Copy to New
then File>Save as...change the format to MP3,
and either save the song again in a different format, or overwrite the larger WAV...
hope 2av helped.......keep us posted (Hahyuck...)
Thanks Crispy, I'll give it a try

mhhh....just my two cents...
but it might be this;
maybe you recorded your audio files in 32 bit floath...
and then you are trying to save it....and need to convert to 16 bit first...
but nah...can't be it...cause you should be able to save whatever you want, it just depends on the soundcard what you can play back..
i never had any problems with saving to mp3...
and yeah, why convert to mono ? to reduce file size ?
i'd go for at least the minimum quality...
.just let em download longer !
another alternative is of course......save your file as a Wave file,
and open another app to convert to MP3
(only if you got like a ****load of time..... ;) )
cheers,
