I am a new comer to midi so can anyone help please. With VST plug ins my keyboard has latency problems so I have found out but don't know how to resilve this. I am using Audiophile 2496 soundcard. Hope someone can help please. It seems to work ok normally, with no delay?
Thanks for any advice. Andy e.

Can we get a bit more info as to what soundcard and software program you are using?
Without knowing more details I would suggest that you check to see if your soundcard/program allows you to "Direct Monitor" as you record

Make sure that u use the ASIO-driver of your soundcard (not ASIO Multimedia). You can decrease the latency by lowering the buffer-size, but if you set this too low, dropouts (clicks) will occur.

You can find what Pingel is talking about in...
Devices > Device Setup > VST Multitrack. Chose your soundcards ASIO driver there. Also, click on the control panel in the same window and play with your soundcards settings. Although this will work for audio what your experiencing is the Delay that the plugin is creating. If you're having problems with this latency you can always just play the part and then apply the plugin after the part has been recorded. If you're trying to sync this with other previous recorded material you can look into the PDC(?) plugin delay compensator that I believe is built in to SX2 (although I don't use that version so you'll have to look it up yourself).

Many thanks to both of you for your help. I did find that the Asio driver was set to Asio multimedia in Devices. I set to Asio M-audio instead and although seems to be giving me an output I can't hear it until I switch back to Asio multimedia. I must be doing something wrong? Any further ideas from either of you as you seem to be getting me there. Many thanks again to you!!

Also if it's any help when in Asio M-audio driver the input meter seems to be there imediately whereas on Asio multimedia it takes a second. But as I said not getting an output when in Asio M-audio although response meter is instant.
Hope this helps you a bit?? Andy e Cheers!!

Think I've sussed it chaps!! I realized that my speakers would how have to come out of the audio card outputs instead of the on board sound card! Tried that and midi sound is now in sync with keys. I knew it must be something I had done!!
Many thanks for all your help Easto and Pingel. Well done!!
